The Arts

The Arts, aligned to the Victorian Curriculum, includes Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music and Visual Arts. The Arts enable students to develop their creative and expressive capacities by learning about the different practices, disciplines and traditions that have shaped the expression of culture locally, nationally and globally. 

Learning through Dance 

  • Communicating through movement and expressive skills 
  • Choreographic and performance skills 
  • Respect and understanding of traditions, histories and cultures of dance 

Learning through Drama

  • Developing confidence, imagination, creativity, communication and teamwork
  • Developing characters through games, role-play and improvisation through use of body, facial expressions, voice and movement 
  • Respect and understanding of traditions, histories and cultures of drama and theatre  

Learning through Music 

  • Developing skills and techniques for playing a variety of instruments, singing, improvising, exploring and responding to music
  • Respect and understanding of traditions, histories and cultures of music and artists  

Learning through Media Arts 

  • Developing skills and techniques in photography 
  • Developing storyboards, design and inquiry processes 
  • Developing skills in editing, sequence, transitions, effects, music, sound and audience 

Learning through Visual Arts 

  • Developing artistic ideas and expressions through design and inquiry processes 
  • Techniques, materials, processes and technologies 
  • Respect and understanding of traditions, histories and cultures of artists and designers
